Full Power

As we’ve watched headlines about the government shut down, many people have been filled with worry. Yet, for most of us, life has gone on much the same. The lights are still on. The sun still rose this morning. Kids still went to school. Work still called. And while leaders argue and agencies pause, there’s a deeper truth that brings peace to the heart of every believer — God has never once shut down.
He doesn’t take a furlough. He doesn’t close His doors. He doesn’t suspend His mercy until further notice. His kingdom is never in gridlock. The same God who spoke the world into motion still holds it together by the power of His Word (Hebrews 1:3).
When the systems of man falter, the sovereignty of God stands firm. “The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all” (Psalm 103:19). No matter what happens in Washington, His plans never depend on earthly votes or budgets.
While some wait for decisions from Capitol Hill, we look to Calvary’s Hill — where the greatest decision ever made was to send His Son to redeem us. And that redemption never expires, never pauses, and never shuts down. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
So as uncertainty swirls, let this remind us where our confidence belongs: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).
Governments may shut down, but God’s grace keeps running full power.
