Psalm 1:1-6

We live in a world full of choices — a thousand different paths promising happiness, success, and peace. But Psalm 1 reminds us that there are really only two ways to live: the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked.
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly… but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.” (Psalm 1:1-2)
The blessed life isn’t about luck, money, or status — it’s about direction.
It’s about whose voice you’re listening to and whose steps you’re following.
The psalmist shows a slow progression of compromise: we walk, then stand, then sit with sin.
But the man or woman who stays blessed keeps their heart planted in God’s truth. They delight in His Word, chew on it, live by it, and let it shape how they think and react.
And what happens to that person?
“He shall be like a tree planted by rivers of water…” (v. 3)
Even when life gets dry, they still have roots that reach deep into the stream of God’s grace. They may bend under the storm, but they don’t break. Their fruit shows up in season because they’re connected to the Source.
But then the psalm takes a sharp turn —
“The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.” (v. 4)
The wicked look strong for a moment, but when the winds of life blow, they scatter. They have no root, no anchor, no Savior.
The psalm closes with one final truth that hits home:
“For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.” (v. 6)
Friend, that means God doesn’t just see you — He knows you.
He knows every tear, every trial, every time you’ve stood for what’s right when it wasn’t popular. He’s not a distant observer; He’s a present Shepherd guiding your steps.
The path of the righteous isn’t the easiest road — but it’s the only one that leads to life. 🌳
So stay rooted.
Keep delighting in His Word.
And remember — the same God who planted you by the water will see you through every season.
