When the World Trembles

Everywhere we turn, it seems the world is spinning faster and faster out of control. Tragedy and turmoil dominate the headlines, and fear and confusion creep into our hearts if we’re not careful. Yet Jesus told us long ago what our place in this world should be: “You are the salt of the earth… You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:13–14)
Salt preserves what would otherwise decay. Light shines where shadows threaten to overtake. As believers, we are not called to blend into the chaos, but to stand out as those who carry the presence of Christ into the darkest of nights.
This is why now, more than ever, we must be people of prayer. Not just prayers for comfort, but prayers for revival. God has often used seasons of shaking to awaken His people. What the enemy means for destruction, God can turn into a spark that ignites hearts and draws people to Jesus. In fact, we see this specifically stated in Genesis 50:20. Let us stand in the promise that God gives us that if we will humble ourselves, pray, and turn from our wickedness as people of God then he will hear from heaven and heal our land.
So while the world trembles, let us be found on our knees—asking God to pour out His Spirit, to bring healing where there is hurt, and to bring salvation where there is sin. Let us be salt that preserves truth and light that points the way to Christ. Revival can—and will—come when God’s people shine brightest in the storm.
