Invested

This morning it would have been easy to write about the news. The deaths of public officials and the reactions flooding social media would probably be the “softball” topic—the one everyone is already discussing.

Instead, my heart is somewhere else.

This weekend our church family is gathering for our annual Marriage Retreat, and I couldn’t be more excited.

One of the convictions we have at Rocky Valley is that the health of a church is deeply connected to the health of the marriages within it. If we want homes that honor Christ, children who see the gospel lived out, and a church that reflects Jesus well, then we have to be intentional about investing in our marriages.

Sometimes people hear “marriage retreat” and assume it’s only for couples who are struggling. That’s simply not true.

You don’t wait until you’re unhealthy to go to the gym. You go because you want to become healthier, stronger, and better prepared for the challenges ahead. A marriage retreat is much the same. It’s an opportunity to step away from the busyness of life, focus on your spouse, open God’s Word together, and strengthen something that is already worth protecting.

Every marriage can grow. Every husband can love more like Christ. Every wife can flourish more deeply in God’s design. Every couple can become more intentional. None of us ever “arrive.”

I’m thankful for the couples who have made the investment this weekend. My prayer is that God will encourage hearts, strengthen homes, deepen friendships, and remind us all that the gospel doesn’t just save us—it transforms the way we love one another every single day.
