More Than A Building

Over the last week, I’ve walked through the halls of Rocky Valley and watched classrooms transformed, decorations hung, stages built, props painted, even a life sized igloo from milk jugs, and volunteers pouring their hearts into every detail for Bible School.

And every time I see it, my heart rejoices.

Not because of the decorations themselves… but because of what they represent.

They represent the Bride of Christ joyfully serving for the glory of her King- there is something beautiful about watching people work together with excitement and purpose — not for recognition, not for applause, but because they love Jesus and want children to see Him clearly. Every painted backdrop, every prepared lesson, every game, every prayer being prayed over these halls is an act of worship.

Moments like these are some of my favorites as a pastor.

To see people laughing while they work…

Serving without complaining…

Giving their time after long work days…

Using their gifts for the Kingdom…

It reminds me that the church is far more than a building. The church is alive when God’s people joyfully come together for His mission.

Psalm 122:1 says, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.”

That gladness is filling this place right now.

My prayer is that every child who walks onto these grounds this week would not simply see decorations or activities, but would experience the love of Christ through His people. May seeds be planted that change lives for eternity.

Thankful for a church family that serves so faithfully and joyfully. Watching the people of God work together for His glory never gets old. You can pre-register your kids for VBS next week here: https://rockyvalleybaptist.churchcenter.com/people/forms/1229006
