The State of Our Union

No matter where you stood while watching the State of the Union-whether you clapped, cringed, cheered, or changed the channel, the true state of our union is not ultimately determined by a president, a party, or a podium.
It is determined by the people of God.
Scripture is clear:
“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.” — 2 Chronicles 7:14
Notice what it does NOT say.
It does not say, “If the right politician speaks.”
It does not say, “If Congress gets it together.”
It does not say, “If the next election swings your way.”
It says, If My people.
The condition of our country has always been more spiritual than political.
We can debate policy. We can disagree on approach. We can have convictions about economics, borders, justice, morality, and leadership. But when the church becomes more divided by political lines than united under the blood of Christ, we have misplaced our allegiance.
Paul wrote:
“There is neither Jew nor Greek… for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” — Galatians 3:28
In our language today, we might say:
There is neither Republican nor Democrat.
Neither conservative nor progressive.
For you are all one in Christ Jesus.
Humbling ourselves means more than praying for them to change.
It means asking God to search us.
Humility says:
• My party is not my savior.
• My news source is not my shepherd.
• My hope is not in a platform.
• My King is not up for re-election.
Psalm 33:12 says,
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”
Not the nation whose candidate wins.
Not the nation whose economy is strongest.
Not the nation with the best speechwriters.
The church cannot afford to mirror the outrage of cable news while claiming to represent the Prince of Peace.
If we want healing in our land:
We must model unity.
We must speak truth with grace.
We must pray for leaders we agree with — and those we don’t.
We must refuse to let political identity fracture gospel fellowship.
The watching world does not need another pundit.
It needs a unified people who belong to Jesus.
The real State of the Union is revealed every Sunday morning in local churches across this nation.
Are we gathered as one body?
Are we loving across differences?
Are we praying more than posting?
Are we seeking His face more than defending our side?
Revival will not come from Washington.
It will come from repentance.
And repentance begins with us.
